By adding value in the form of tax advice, you slowly gain their attention, and most importantly, their trust.
But what about the clients your currently have?
Client retention is a very vital part of your tax business because in order to maintain your current productivity, you need to make sure your clients come back. One of the most efficient ways to do this is through engaging email and text campaigns. Here are a list of powerful campaigns you can run for your tax business to ensure your clients come back.
1. Holiday Greeting Campaign
Holidays throughout the year are a perfect opportunity for your tax business to stay top of mind throughout the year. Imagine your clients received a text from you saying:
Hey Jim, it's Pam from Main Street Tax, just wanted to say Happy 4th of July, and hope you're enjoying this time with family. Have fun!
Since your clients wont be expecting a text from you on Independence day, you've achieved an element of surprise, and created a lasting impression with them.
Now, let's say you did this for: Memorial Day, Labor Day, Valentines Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Halloween, Super Bowl, St Pattys Day. Just right there you've created 8 interactions with your customers, and the best part is that without any expectation. As you approach tax season, your tax business can be more aggressive in your approach and it won't come off as salesy because you've built the rapport already.
2. Referral Campaign
One of the easiest ways to expand your network is by asking your current customers for referrals. When it comes to your referral campaigns, you will be far more successful if you reach out via text. It's an extremely powerful tool because of the response rates. Most people are always connected to their phones, so it's your responsibility to reach out without being intrusive.
You can say something like:
Hey Jim, it's Pam from Main Street Taxes, just giving you a heads up that this year we're offering $50 referrals!
Naturally, you would want to position your referral campaign as you get closer to tax season. The reason being that most people will have tax season on their mind during November and December. It's a great opportunity to let them know how your tax business can help them earn more money, and keep your tax office relevant.
3. Reminder Campaign
Similar to your referral campaign, a reminder campaign is vital to your success as you approach tax season. You can use the reminder campaign in a couple of ways:
1. You can set up reminders for people who made an appointment, so that you make sure they attend. A lot of times, clients will book an appointment, and because they have things going on in their lives, they forget.
You can set up a text or email to send 3 days, 1 day, or an hour before they attend. This way you're helping remind them of their appointment in a useful way.
2. You can set up reminder campaigns 1-2 months before tax season to remind them of tax season! During November, December, and even into January, you want to make sure they know your tax business is still open and ready to help them like you did last year.
The message can be something like this:
Hey Jim, its Pam from Main Street Taxes. We are 1 month away from tax season, and want to help maximize your refund like we did last year! Click the link below to schedule your appointment!
4. Raffle And Contest Campaigns
Raffles and contests are great ways to engage (link to ebook) with your clients throughout the year. Like previous campaigns, you can send the contest rules via text for a quick snapshot of whats going on with your tax business. Dont necessarily expect a response, but instead, see it as an opportunity to engage with them if they do.
You're simply letting them know about something that can benefit them, and making your tax business relevant in the process.
5. Promotional Offer Campaigns
As you approach tax season, you want to be able to sprinkle your offers through email and text. If you have an incredible offer or provide services like refund advances (taxpayers love the option of refund advances), these are great opportunities to engage with your clients. Like we've mentioned throughout this post, the goal is to create these messages throughout the year, so that it feels natural as you get closer to tax season.
