Position Your Tax Business As Experts In The Community
In order for me people to start paying attention, you need to acknowledge a simple thought: "What's In It For Them". In other words, what type of value are you adding that's making them see you as the expert. In many cases, you'll notice how some tax businesses don't engage with you throughout the year, but then somehow expect to earn your business with a promotional offer 1 month before tax season.
In a few cases it might work, but if you really want your tax business to grow, then you need to be willing to engage with them throughout the year.
You need to have a mix of content, so that you show your potential customers you're not solely interested in offering them a service. By sharing what you know and providing insightful information throughout the year, they'll consider your tax business when tax season comes.
Only this time, you've already given them information that proves you're an expert and have shown them that you're interested in more than just offering a service.
Share What You Know
As a tax business, how do you start building connections with people who don't know you and suddenly catch their interest? Here's a common theme for taxpayers as it relates to taxes.
They are limited by what they know, and hate "overpaying" for a service they think they can do.
By sharing tax advice that's specific to them, you begin to earn their trust. It shows that you care about them doing it right, and more importantly, makes them feel confident in choosing you as their tax preparer.
Make It Stick
Like any relationship, you need time to build trust. You build this trust by understanding what's important to your customers and sharing information that improves their lives.
The key thing here is consistency. The more advice you share, the more likely they are to remember you as that expert.
Consider creating a content calendar for your tax business, so that you know exactly what you'll post. Imagine having 120 different interactions with people just before tax season starts! As you start having these conversations, not only do you establish yourself as an expert, but also as someone who cares to help their community.
Reach More People With $1 A Day
Once you've created your content, you can choose to promote it for as little as $1 a day. With that $1, you're able to reach between 250-500 people, and that's not even the best part.
These are people who live within 5 miles of your tax office!
As more people see your content consistently, your tax business will be the one they engage.
Present Your Offer
As tax season approaches, start to shift your content into more of an offer. Since taxpayers are familiar with the content you've posted, asking to do their taxes becomes more natural. Like we mentioned earlier in the post, not only have you offered advice and tips on how to improve their taxes, but also the right to present your offer.
The more you share, the more they get to know you. The more they get to know you, the more likely you are to convert them into a client.
