Six years ago, the day before Christmas, I remember receiving an email announcement from Santa Barbara Bank & Trust telling us they would not have RALs. This jump started a series of events that led me to founding Refundo. I felt led on, betrayed, and even foolish for feeling like I had no option but to be at the mercy of someone else to help my clients.
Refund Advances: What's the goal?
Last year when we decided to offer a refund advance we were met with skepticism at every turn. My team and I weren’t phased by any of the skepticism. Instead, we embraced the challenge and committed ourselves to release a refund advance that people trusted and needed. As a result, we received many heartfelt videos telling us how great we were and that validated our belief.
This year we are happy to see that EROs now have more choices when selecting a refund advance, a product that we pioneered. So much so that the New Jersey Technology Council recently awarded us the Innovative Technology Award.

Unfortunately, this year we will be sitting on the sidelines and not offering the NOW advance during tax season 2015/2016.
Our approach has always been to fit the taxpayers needs and because of the dramatic expansion of the NOW advance, we were unable to secure the funding to properly help all of our EROs and taxpayers alike. Our goal isn’t to just compete for the sake of competing, it really is to give families opportunities and options and as we did this year, open new possibilities for taxpayers to enjoy.
For that reason, we decided to sit on the sidelines for 2015/2016, but have since reintroduced the program after we gathered more data and assessed the volume properly.
We are still committed to providing the best-in-class refund transfer platform with mobile apps that help you manage your office on the go. This year we are also releasing our own audit assistance program called Audit Pros.
